Through the Years
It all began with a fistful of ambition and a firm handshake.
William Means Real Estate is the preeminent broker of luxury property in the
Lowcountry and is one of the oldest firms in the area. Founded in 1933 by
William Means, the firm initially offered both real estate and insurance
services and specialized in the sale of plantations. The real estate
division of the company was acquired by Mr. Means son-in-law W. Elliott
Hutson in 1957 and was later purchased by Helen Lyles Geer, who remains as
the owner and Broker-in-Charge.
